A Workshop for Yoga teachers wanting to understand middle path alignment and the art of seeing the body with the intention to give intelligent supportive structural assists, hands on adjustments when needed, and the appropriate use of energy. After 2 years of being out of the classroom due to the pandemic, we are coming back together inspired to share amazing assists with our students and support them on expanding their awareness on and off the mat.

This workshop is for any yoga teacher wanting to practice assists that can be used in the classroom or in private yoga settings to guide students into form that will provide more ease and insight to their bodies and centers in yoga asana. Learn to give safe, compassionate, intelligent, purposeful, and aligned assists to other yogis that will bring joy to all.

Schedule:

April 29th, Friday Night 6-9pm (3 Contact hours)

April 30th, Saturday 11:30-2pm and 2-6pm. (5.5 Contact hours)

May 1st, Sunday 11:30-2pm and 2-6pm. (5.5 Contact hours)

Forward Folds and Twists,- This workshop will help you understand alignment and the energetics of the major poses. Regardless of whether or not you will give hands on assists, this workshop will help you understand how to cue and connect more deeply to alignment in a pose. 

Students will have in-person time, and there will also be access to our online learning platfm, Teachable, for Pre-recorded videos to re-watch. For students wanting to take this course entirely online, that is possible, as it will be all filmed. We just hope you will try to make it in person! 

The Yoga Space NW studio is big and airy and light filled, with a beautiful outdoor space to have lunch in and relax between sessions. There are hotels & Portland Youthhostel just nearby for people traveling in. Come to Portland for great food, people, nature, yoga!

Michele is an international yoga teacher and the founder and director of The Yoga Space in Portland, Oregon. She is known as a teacher’s teacher and is respected for her 200 Hr & 500 Hr. Yoga Schools and her ability to combine Western knowledge of the body (Anatomy & physiology and modern kinesiology techniques) with the Eastern tradition of yoga.

She has practiced and taught yoga since 1998, having studied extensively in the Iyengar and Ashtanga traditions as well as the Sri Vidya lineage. She is known for her keen observation skills and her ability to guide a student towards aligning the physical and energetic body through the use of expert hands on assists and intelligent verbal cues. She brings to her teaching a warm and engaging style that reflects her own internal understanding of the practice.

Michele is an avid student of Eastern & Western Philosophy and continues to study with her principal yoga teacher Richard Freeman with whom she has practiced with since 2000. She has been Richard’s assistant in his teacher trainings and workshops, and has a close understanding of his brilliant middle path teaching. She practices Tibetan Buddhism, and received several Kalachakra initiations with HH The Dalai Lama and practices Vajrayana as guided by her beloved teacher in Buddhism, Dr. Robert Thurman.
